Eligibility criteria

Note: Mudra is a loan, not a grant — interest applies at the lender's rate, and you repay over 3–7 years. The scheme's benefit is no collateral (the government's CGFMU guarantee protects the lender) and wide access through banks, small finance banks, NBFCs, and MFIs.

How to apply

  1. Choose your category (Shishu/Kishor/Tarun/Tarun Plus) based on how much you need.
  2. Prepare your pitch: for anything above Shishu, lenders ask for a simple business plan or project report — what you'll buy, expected income, repayment plan.
  3. Apply:
    • Online at udyamimitra.in or jansamarth.in (compare lenders, digital in-principle approval), or
    • At any bank branch — public, private, small finance bank, or regional rural bank.
  4. Submit documents (below) and complete verification; Shishu loans are commonly sanctioned within about 7–10 working days.
  5. On approval you may receive a Mudra RuPay card — a debit card on the loan account for flexible working-capital withdrawals.
