SSP Post Matric Scholarship Karnataka: How to Apply

Who is eligible

• Permanent resident of Karnataka studying post-matric: PUC (11th–12th), ITI, diploma, undergraduate, or postgraduate courses in recognised institutions
• Belongs to a notified category — SC, ST, OBC/Category-I, minority, and certain other welfare-department categories
• Generally at least 50% marks in the previous qualifying exam
• Family income within the category limit — ₹2.5 lakh for SC/ST (with higher relaxations for professional courses under some sub-schemes), around ₹1–2.5 lakh for most other categories
• Parents not in regular government service (for several sub-schemes); student not holding another overlapping scholarship
• A valid SATS ID (school students) or college enrolment that the portal can verify

Each welfare department (Social Welfare, Tribal Welfare, Backward Classes, Minority Welfare) runs its own sub-scheme with its own rates — the SSP portal automatically routes your application based on your category and course.

What it covers

• Fee reimbursement — tuition and exam fees for eligible courses (full reimbursement for SC/ST within the income limit)
• Maintenance allowance — monthly rates varying by course level and hosteller/day-scholar status
• Paid by DBT to the student's Aadhaar-seeded bank account after verification

How to apply on SSP, step by step

1. Get your certificates ready first: caste certificate and income certificate from your Nada Kacheri (Atalji Janasnehi Kendra) — the portal verifies them electronically by RD number.
2. Go to ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in and create an account with Aadhaar, mobile, and email.
3. Fill the application: personal details, caste/income certificate RD numbers, academic history, and current course/institution details.
4. Ensure your bank account is Aadhaar-seeded (NPCI-mapped) — this is the most common reason payments fail.
5. Submit before the deadline and note the application ID; your institution and the department verify before the amount is released.

Deadlines

SSP announces dates each academic year and frequently extends them — recent post-matric cycles have closed around November–December. The current year's notification on the SSP portal is the only reliable source.

Stack your scholarships

SSP is Karnataka's state channel. Depending on your profile you may also qualify for central NSP schemes, Karnataka schemes like Yuva Nidhi after graduation, and private CSR scholarships — Reliance Foundation, Tata Capital Pankh, HDFC Parivartan.
