What PM-KISAN pays
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is the central government's income support scheme for farmers. Every eligible family receives ₹2,000 every four months — ₹6,000 a year — by Direct Benefit Transfer. 22 instalments have been released as of early 2026; the 23rd is expected around mid-2026.
PM-KISAN eligibility criteria
- The unit is the landholding farmer family: husband, wife, and minor children together.
- The family must own cultivable land in their name as per state/UT land records. Tenant farmers cultivating others' land are not covered by PM-KISAN itself (some states run separate tenant schemes).
- There is no minimum land size — even very small holdings qualify.
- Aadhaar is mandatory, and your bank account must be Aadhaar-seeded.
Who is excluded
- Families where any member paid income tax in the last assessment year
- Institutional landholders (land held by trusts, companies, institutions)
- Serving or retired government/PSU employees (Group D/MTS excepted)
- Pensioners drawing ₹10,000 or more per month (Group D/MTS excepted)
- Practising professionals — doctors, engineers, lawyers, CAs, architects
- Current or former holders of constitutional posts, ministers, MPs, MLAs, mayors, zilla panchayat chairpersons

Payment not coming? Check these first

- Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded — ask your bank to link/seed Aadhaar for DBT.
- Land seeding incomplete — your land records aren't matched; contact your village revenue officer.
- Wrong bank/IFSC details — correct them via Farmers Corner or a CSC.
How to apply (new registration)
- On pmkisan.gov.in, open Farmers Corner → New Farmer Registration.
- Choose rural or urban registration, enter your Aadhaar number and mobile, select your state, and verify by OTP.
- Fill in personal details, bank account, and land record details (khata/khasra or survey numbers), and upload supporting documents.
